NASCAR DFS Actionable Events — Las Vegas Cup Series 2024 Recap
Notes
- Keselowski - found speed at end
- Erik Jones - found speed at end (overall Legacy Motor Club struggled)
- Hocevar - bad final pit stop ...great race. Worked with Crw Chief Luke Lambert at the end of 2023, they seem to have continued their success. Spire is looking good.
- Ty Gibbs - great recovery from bad pits. Fastest JGR Toyota?
- Noah Gragson - good run, good restart at end. Worries about Crew Chief Drew Bickensderfer at Phoenix.
- Does JGR have elite speed? They were in striking position at the end and did not strike.
- Ryan Blaney was close, but Larson was too fast.
- Ross Chastain - good recovery, but a 2 tire stop at the end inflated his finish
- Chase Elliott - lacking speed
- Alex Bowman - really lacking, hurting without Crew Chief Greg Ives
- Ricky Stenhouse - solid day, but average — can work at a value DFS NASCAR salary
- Kyle Busch - Bad pit stops and penalties
Key Moments at Las Vegas Spring 2024
- 0 #1 had to replace the wrap on the hood, #51 changed a steering wrack, #41 backup car, will all start in the rear
- 3 #71 24th up the track with possible damage to suspension after contact with the wall. #5 takes the lead
- 10 #20 18th slow on front stretch with flat right rear tire
- 11 Caution for #20 - teams take note - take it easy w/ low air pressure
- 12 Leaders pit: #17, #14, #7, #45, ****#99 two tires all others four tires, #5 6th first with four tires. #38 penalized for crew over the wall too soon
- 27 #17 7th loses a right front wheel in turn 1, he had changed only right side tires last caution
- 38 #24 7th has a trash bag covering the entire front opening of the grill
- 84 Leaders pit: All take four tires, #19 who pitted from third takes the lead after stops. #45 goes from 2nd to 16th pitting too close to wall after sliding in stall forcing him to back up
- 156 #20 spins off turn 2 from 14th
- 158 Leaders pit: #48 two tires from 14th, all others four tires. #48 takes lead, #54 long stop came in 6th went to 23rd. #6 had to back up to leave pit, #54 also had a penalty for uncontrolled tire. #8 long stop from 2nd to get right front tight falls to 18
- 211 #45 had a 13 second stop
- 235 #7 spins in turn 2 from 18th makes contact with the outside wall
- 267 #5 holds on to get the win

North Wilkesboro All-Star Race DFS NASCAR Data ...thinking aloud
Is the 2023 North Wilkesboro race a worthwhile data point for the L.A. Clash? By Saturday evening, there will be plenty of weekend data, and the correlating track data will be pushed aside — right or wrongly. I would not get married to LA practice/qualifying data, or swear allegiance to game theory (leverage, ownership, sims, small windows to build lineups).
Look at the data. Pick the data points that you like. Build your own lineups. Do your own thing. But what do I know? I'm just a small town pizza lawyer. I'm not a NASCAR tout. It's just me. A guy building useful spreadsheets. My twitter feed isn't screenshots. There's no website affiliation for me to promote. Just a man and a spreadsheet.
